Ear pain can often be a difficult problem to sort out. Frequently, ear pain may be assumed to be due to an ear infection. However, discomfort in and around the ear can be a symptom of a problem somewhere else in the head and neck region. In particular, issues with the jaw joint and teeth, tonsils, base of tongue and upper neck can all cause earache.
